Sunset on Cadillac Mountain

We rode up to the top of the highest peak on Acadia-Cadillac Mountain to see the spectacular sunset.

A view of the Porcupine Islands offshore from Cadillac.

Libraries in Maine

We had a chance to see some of the libraries in the little coastal towns of Maine!

Orrs Island Maine Public Library

Somesville Maine Public Library

Bass Harbor Maine Public Library

Southwest Harbor Maine Public Library

Flowers in Southwest Harbor

Beautiful flowers along the street in Southwest Harbor, Maine

Walk from Sand Beach to Thunder Hole

We took a walk along the shore from Sand Beach (sandy beaches are very rare in Maine) to Thunder Hole-a rock formation where the waves make a loud sound as they strike it.

Little Notch Bakery

I took Kathie's photo through the Little Notch window as she was also shooting a photo. When she saw me, we both started laughing. fun at the bakery!

A blessed discovery in the small toen of southwest Harbor, was the Little Notch Bakery. Fresh breads, pasteries and pizza all baked in the sea air. This photo is a reflection of Kathie and I in the shop window.

Lions and tigers and...................

We took a drive around the "quiet side" of the island. On the way to the little hamlet of Bass Harbor, we startled a bear by the side of the road.

Bass Harbor Lighthouse

Still manned by a Coast Guard family.

Seawall at Sunset

A natural seawall near Bass Harbor provides a beautiful and unique spot.

Sunset Drive around Mount Desert Island

We drove around the edge of Sommes Sound and the island. There is no riviera anywhere in the world that holds a candle to the views of this area at sunset!

Jordan Pond

We had a nice lunch overlooking Jordan Pond-killer blueberry crisp!
The Jordan Pond Gathouse is a beautiful house.

A ride around Jordan Pond on the Carriage Road is about 8 miles-and allows one the privelege of tea and popovers at the Jordan Pond Lakehouse restaurant!

Afternoon Ride on Eagle Lake

In a place this beautiful, you gotta get out there and make the most of every spare moment! So we hit the carriage trails for an afternoon bike ride.

Little Cranberry Isle

We took a photograph of our reflection in the window of the restaurant on the dock.

We docked for a short time on the island and walked about. Everything was quaint and weathered-a working lobster co-op on the pier and small school and museum.

Cruise to Little Cranberry Isle

Monday morning, we took an Acadia Ranger guided boat trip across the sound to Little Cranberry Ilse. Along the way, we saw Bear Island Light House, osprey nests, an old "day marker" navigational aid on a small island with a pair of bald eagles roosting on top, and seals playing in the water with their pups!

Sunset drive

That evening, we took a drive at sunset through Acadia on the Park Loop Road. Breathtaking views abounded.

Bike ride around Witch Hole Pond

After the art show and Farmers Market, we took the Island Explorer bus (free, propane-powered, very "green" transportion provided by LL Bean) to Witch Hole Pond and rode 6 miles around it. This gave us panoramic views of the lake from above, as well as, lakeside trails.
